Sick On MC

May 28, 2009 · 5 Comments

Dearie said this is the first time I had MC after knowing me for so long. Yeah… Today, I am at home, sick on MC – first time on MC since I become a teacher.

In these few short months alone, I have been quite a frequent visitor to the doctor. Always the same old ailments – Sore throat, cough, flu and now with the latest addition of slight fever. My voice sound so horrible now. But to begin with, my voice had changed since I become a teacher. My student said I sound like a guy. So depressing, can?

Its not a nice feeling, staying at home on MC. Especially after the drownsiness wears off. Reality hit me harder than I can imagine. Started to think about my stacks of files that need me to go through. The unmarked homework. The admin stuffs. I think I need a dose of medication to help me forget all the work…

不, 完美

May 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I love this song by 李玖哲. It has been on repeat mode in school. And me and my colleague just could not stop listening and singing along to this song.

愛人的那一個,往往在不完美中給完美;

REPEAT *

完美並不美 我們多虛偽 你讓我的好 變成一種罪
完美並不美 當你愛了誰 我的完美成了罪

This song just had me. Such beautiful and sad lyrics.

Funny Names

May 13, 2009 · 3 Comments

My colleague was marking away when she suddenly burst out laughing. Puzzled, I asked her what is so funny. (I thought she had gone insane after marking too many scripts.) She showed me a script and the name written on it, had me laughing away as well.

The student is named “Wisely”. My God! Why could parents ever name their kids that?! We started talking about the different kinds of wierd names that we ever come across.

1. Li Chong Ming
This guy is from my batch when I was in Secondary School. Thankfully, his sir-name is not “Zhen” or “Heng”. But, I remembered he was teased rather badly for his name. Poor thing.

2. Zhi Zai and Peter (bi de)
My colleague’s friends. And they are twins! Can you imagine? Haha! But heard this pair of twins are doing very well and they are high flyers now. If I ever do have twins, I might consider the names.

3. Ang PeiQi
Sounds fine right? Not when you said it in dialect. It becomes “Ang 飞机”.

4. Unique
My colleague’s ex-student. Her name is indeed “Unique”! Need I say more?

If I do have kids, I resolve not to give my kids any wierd names. I do not want them blaming me after they grow up. I resolve not to give wierd names to my kids in the future… I resolve not to give funny names to my kids in the future… I must not do that…. I must never do that….

Game Addict

May 12, 2009 · 9 Comments

Restaurant City is apparently the hottest game in facebook now. Not to mention, Dearie has become a total addict to this game and pester me to play as well.

This is how the game works:

Apparently, you are the 老板 and you get to hire your friends as cooks, waiter / waitress and cleaner. Gals, you should be very pleased to know that I hired none of you as cleaners. Xuan, Ting and Dearie are my cooks while Sian and Shi are my waitress for obvious reasons. ;) (Just Kidding!)

And you are allowed to buy and rearrange the furnitures in your restaurant to your personal liking. You girls should check out Dearie’s restaurant. I deem his squandering as a serious wasting of money. I, as usual do what I do best – scrimp and save to ensure that my employees have food to eat. Yes! I have to feed you girls like every 3 hours. That’s the troublesome and irritating part of this whole game. Basically, I focus on customers’ service. Dearie, your ought to learn from me. ;)

By the way, this is an interactive game where you get to cajole and convinced your friend to trade ingredients with you. This will allow your food speciality to level up and you can gain experience points.

Sounds like a kind of game that girls will like, right? Think us play-acting as cook / waitress when we are young. Of course, this game is something deeper than that. There’s the interactive portion to this game which apparently allow us to see how your friends’ restaurants fare. This will motivate people, like Dearie, to ensure that his restaurant is sustain as the top few restaurants amongst his friends. Oh, by the way, Ting owns the best and biggest restaurant. I’m so proud of you, Ting! P

Dearie is so obssessed with this game. Went out to dinner with him on Sunday. And everything is link to restaurant city. Went to Sakae Tepanyaki and Dearie excitedly proclaimed that the interior decoration is just like Restaurant City. Went home immediately after dinner so that Dearie can feed his employees. I quote, “I have eaten my dinner. They haven’t.” (-.-”’) In fact, almost every night, our conversation will somehow steered towards the direction of Restaurant City. Yes! He is such a total addict now. Oh well, boys and his game – as long as he is happy….

A short Get-Away

May 5, 2009 · 6 Comments

Drove up to Kuala Lumpur with Dearie over the long weekend for a short get-away. Enjoy myself tremendously though we did nothing much. Felt so relaxed and contended, without having to give a care about the world or my job.

Poor Dearie was my chauffeur for the trip. Though I know that he was tired during certain intervals of the journey, he still continued with the driving and got me safely to and from KL. 辛苦你了! P

Things I enjoyed about my trip:

1. Blasting songs over our audio system and singing along with Dearie. Songs from 张学友,陈晓东,张惠妹, Back-Street Boys and some old english songs. P I love it! Think it help us both to keep awake.

2. I kinda like the hotel we are staying in. Quite a cosy place to stay in. Offer a nice view of the tall skyscrappers in KL from our hotel room. Check this out!

Though I wished they had better pillows. And this is the first hotel, which I know that does not have a swimming pool! – not that I stayed in many hotels before.

3. Walking around the largest mall with Dearie in KL. Though I didn’t buy much except for a T-shirt and Dearie got a long-sleeved shirt – all at a discount. Feels at home because of the shops I saw – The Body Shop, Isetan, Robinsons, etc. Strangely, there weren’t many shoppers around! The volume of shoppers couldn’t even make up the average number of people shopping in Takashimaya on a weekday. It is that bad! Must be due to the economic downturn.

4. Catching up with Dearie’s friends. One quite seious and the other is simply a joker. He manage to make a suicide story sound like a scene off a comedy movie. He is that lame, can? They play host and bought us around to have good food and telling us horror stories about their country. Aaron bought us back to his house and show us his puppies. Take a look: dscf47711

You call these puppies? My God! One moment they  are sitting there, drooling away and allowing you to pat them. The next moment, they are ready to spring at you and tear you apart! Like what Jerlyn says – the dogs are only cute in the eyes of their owner. Sound familiar shi? Dearie was muttering something like, “Macam I raped his mother…”

5.  I thought the food was average only. Revive the 小娘惹’s craze again by having Nyonya food. The curry is good because assam was one of the main ingredient, according to Dearie.

6. Dearie and me slacking in our hotel room, watching movies and basically basking in each other’s company.

The photo I love P

Honestly, I couldn’t mind a holiday which I can take things slow and do the things I want and may not have the time to do so. Can get to appreciate life better in this way because life itself is already a mad rush everyday.
